A well-equipped trauma care unit, which can attend emergencies of all kinds. A trained experienced casualty medical officer is on call 24 hours with this department.

The department is managed by the team of senior Orthopedic & Trauma Surgeon and Critical care physician & Intensivist who are having wide experience in handling Trauma along with road side accident. The department is backed up by well-equipped ambulance with trained paramedical staff.

Symptoms of Trauma

  • Physical Symptoms:
    • Severe pain
    • Bleeding or open wounds
    • Swelling, bruising, or deformity in affected areas
    • Loss of consciousness
    • Difficulty breathing
  • Psychological Symptoms:
    • Shock, confusion, or disorientation
    • Anxiety or panic
    • Post-traumatic stress symptoms (flashbacks, nightmares)

Treatment of Trauma

  • Immediate First Aid:

    • Stop bleeding with direct pressure or a tourniquet.
    • Immobilize fractures or suspected spinal injuries.
    • Perform CPR if needed.
  • Medical Interventions:

    • Pain management and wound care.
    • Surgery for fractures, internal injuries, or organ damage.
    • Blood transfusions in case of significant blood loss.
  • Rehabilitation:

    • Physical therapy for mobility recovery.
    • Psychological counseling for emotional trauma.

Causes

  • Accidental Injuries: Road traffic accidents, falls, sports injuries.
  • Violence: Assaults, gunshot wounds, domestic violence.
  • Natural Disasters: Earthquakes, floods, or fires.
  • Occupational Hazards: Industrial accidents, construction site injuries.

Prevention

  • Road Safety:

  • Workplace Safety:

    • Use protective equipment (e.g., gloves, hard hats).

  • Home Safety:

    • Childproof homes to prevent falls or injuries.

  • Education and Awareness:

    • Train in first aid and CPR.
